Iyarusalem Alemyehu is the principal lawyer at Alemyehu Law. As a young child, Iyarusalem immigrated from Ethiopia with her father, who was an international student. She is passionate about achieving just and favourable outcomes for her clients, whom she considers as her fellow neighbours in a global community.
Iyarusalem's most memorable professional experience was working abroad with a global anti-slavery organization, assisting lawyers in defending and repatriating women and children who had been trafficked for labour. Previously, Iyarusalem worked at the Law Society of Alberta, assisting with disciplining lawyers’ unethical practices, and Calgary Legal Guidance, advocating for those who do not have access to paid legal services.
Iyarusalem has enjoyed many opportunities to give back to others, including supporting migrant women facing violence, lobbying for access to services for marginalized communities, mentoring youth, and advocating for older adults in long-term care. Iyarusalem will ensure that whatever your situation, your voice will be heard.
