Iyarusalem's most memorable professional experience was working in India with a global anti-slavery organization. There, she assisted local lawyers in defending and repatriating women and children who had been trafficked for labour. Previously, Iyarusalem got to work for the organization responsible for regulating lawyers in Alberta, assisting with disciplining unethical practices. She was also fortunate to article at a legal clinic in Calgary, advocating for those who do not have access to paid legal services.
Iyarusalem has enjoyed many opportunities to advocate for others, including supporting migrant women who are facing violence, lobbying for access to services for marginalized communities, working with and mentoring youth, and advocating for older adults in long-term care. Iyarusalem will ensure that whatever your situation, your voice will be heard.
